A total of 74 second-generation Amisewaka – DLCC students recently underwent competency tests as part of their journey to a professional career in the tourism industry. Over the three days of the event, we witnessed how students who previously had only limited skills were now able to impress not only us and the assessors, but also themselves.
The competency tests were conducted by the Lembaga Sertifikasi Profesi (LSP) Pariwisata Nugraha International, a nationally recognized organization in Indonesia that assesses students in Vocational Training Centers. The tests were conducted on the DLCC campus.
One of the most impressive sights was how our students showcased their cooking skills. As they improved their cooking skills and increased their self-confidence, they demonstrated not only improvements in basic techniques but also creativity in presentation. The students demonstrated significant changes in their responses to assessors’ questions and in their body language during interviews, reflecting the learning they acquired during their internships at four- and five-star hotels and at Amisewaka – DLCC.
Even though the tests were intense, a warm atmosphere enveloped the room as students shared stories of their interesting experiences during their internship program. From experiencing city life for the first time to tasting dishes they had never encountered before.
What stood out particularly was when they mentioned that what had left the biggest impression on them during their internships was learning to work together in teams. This reflects the importance of holistic education at Amisewaka – DLCC in shaping future professionals. Through a combination of academic learning and practical field experience, Amisewaka – DLCC students have proven that they are ready to conquer the world of five-star kitchens.
