Leading chefs cook-up ‘Into the Wild’ with Lovacore NXT – a fundraiser for Amisewaka — DLCC
Amisewaka – Desa Les Community Center (“DLCC”) was honored to have ten celebrity chefs from around Asia participate in a fundraising cook-off to raise money for our organization.
Hosted at the stunning Locavore NXT restaurant in Bali, the ‘Into the Wild’ challenge saw these world-renowned chefs having to improvise as they were presented with a mysterious ‘black box’ of secret Balinese ingredients.
The chefs were then challenged to create innovative dishes using these secret ingredients. They teamed up in pairs and devised unique snacks and main courses that were served to guests at the Locavore NXT venue. In addition to the “Into the Wild” dinner, the chefs cooked traditional dishes from their home countries at Nusantara, offering diners a taste of global cuisine.
The participating chefs included:
Arnaud Hauchon (Herbivore, Indonesia)
Chalee Kader (Wana Yook, Thailand)
Darren Teoh (Dewakan, Malaysia)
David Lai (Neighborhood, Hong Kong)
Ivan Brehm (Nouri, Singapore)
Prateek Sadhu (Naar, India)
Richie Lin (Mume, Taiwan)
Stephan Duhesme (Metiz, Philippines)
Eelke Plasmeijer (Locavore NXT, Indonesia)
Ray Adriansyah (Locavore NXT, Indonesia)
Not only was this a fundraiser for the DLCC, but it also provided an unforgettable experience for five students: Dinda, Dedi, Hendra, Satrya, and Somanada. Each were given a chance to pair up with a chef duo, rehearse with them at Locavore NXT, and work a grueling 15-hour shift alongside these cooking greats, gaining invaluable kitchen experience.
Among the lucky diners at the 18-course experience were several members of Amicorp’s leadership team, Peter Biggs, Jeff Fisher, Hans Hermann, and CEO Toine Knipping, along with seven of their guests. The group also visited Amisewaka – DLCC to meet with the staff and see the center in action.
All guests at the ‘Into the Wild’ event went home with a goodie bag that included our book, Amisewaka — DLCC More For Les’ and samples of salt, jam, and tea made on our campus.
Proceeds from ‘Into the Wild’ will go towards raising funds for Amisewaka — DLCC to continue our efforts to make a difference for young people in Bali.
