Kasel: Amisewaka – DLCC student honored as the Best Trainee at Hotel Mamaka by Ovolo, Bali

In the bustling kitchen of Hotel Mamaka by Ovolo in Kuta, Bali, Kasel, one of our students from Amisewaka – DLCC was honored as the best trainee from December 2023 to June 2024. For six months, Kasel immersed himself in the culinary world at Mamaka by Ovolo. Besides learning about breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus, he also experienced learning challenges and formed new friendships. Kasel comes from a hardworking family. His father is a daily laborer, while his mother runs a food stall to make ends meet. He often longed to play with his friends when he wasn’t at school or interning, but he was responsible for helping his parents at the stall. His upbringing and environment shaped him to become a disciplined individual. During his internship, Kasel mastered various cooking techniques and was entrusted with cooking all the meals for guests and preparing the hotel’s signature dishes. His guiding principle was to learn as much as possible per the existing operational standards.

On March 4, Kasel was recognized as the best trainee cook among dozens of campus competitors. This achievement was not impossible to attain, thanks to his effort, dedication, and motivation during the six-month training at the hotel. Armed with the confidence honed during his time on campus, Kasel stood on stage and proudly held the certificate of appreciation presented directly by the Executive Chef, accompanied by the Sous Chef.

Kasel’s story reminds us that every step is an achievement, and every challenge is an opportunity to become the best version of ourselves. Regardless of family background and economic status, everyone deserves the chance to achieve their goals and succeed.
