Titin, one of the first graduates of Amisewaka — DLCC (“DLCC”), recently shared some exciting news; she is now working in Japan in the field of agriculture, specifically in orchid farming.
At first, Titin believed her career would stay in the culinary world. She eagerly joined culinary training with passion and dedication. However, everything changed when she took an extra class on campus: permaculture. That was when she discovered her interest in sustainable farming. In the permaculture class, she learned how to design and manage farmland in a way that protects the environment while keeping it productive. She also learned organic gardening techniques, including how to control pests without using harmful chemicals.
As part of the DLCC curriculum, Titin also completed a culinary internship at a five-star hotel in Bali. After six months of hands-on training, she was hired as a Daily Worker and Cook at the same hotel. Even though she had started a career in the culinary field, her interest in sustainable farming never faded.
In her free time, Titin studied Japanese and learned more about agricultural techniques. With her unique combination of skills, cooking, and eco-friendly farming, she applied for a job in Japan. She highlighted her ability to manage land in a more ecological, economic, and sustainable way. Today, she has been living in Japan for several months, working at an orchid farm.
In a message to her parents and the younger students at DLCC, Titin said:
“There are many paths to success. Give young people the chance to discover their interests and talents. Support them with the right education, and they will find their way.”
Titin is a real example of how success can come from persistence, curiosity, and the courage to step out of the comfort zone. With support from her family, generous donors, and DLCC, Titin has grown into a confident, independent, and inspiring young woman. We are proud to be part of her journey.
