Kadek Donik: Courage and achievement against all odds

Kadek Donik, a student from our fourth batch at Amisewaka – DLCC, has shown how hard work and determination can turn doubt into success. During her training at W Hotel Seminyak, she was named “Best Trainee in Culinary” out of 30 students from different training centers and private colleges in Bali.

This was more than just an award. The hotel’s General Manager gave her the certificate in person and announced that she would be hired as a daily worker after her training. Donik earned this chance because she is responsible, hardworking, and always ready to help her teammates. She also has a strong ability to organize and plan her work. Her eagerness to learn inspired her trainers to guide her more and give her more responsibility.

For Donik, this success proves to herself and her family, especially to those who once doubted her decision to continue studying tourism after high school. Coming from a family with limited financial means, she worked hard to break the old belief that a daughter only leaves home when she gets married and doesn’t make much of a difference.

Interestingly, Donik’s favorite place to work is in the kitchen, a spot her friends call the “hell kitchen” because of its strict discipline and fast pace. But for Donik, this tough environment is where she grows and shines the most.

Her story is not the only one at Amisewaka – DLCC. Alongside Donik, two other students were also hired as daily workers at the same hotel, out of only four available spots. We are proud to witness every step of their journey and every success they achieve.

To all our donors, thank you for standing with us and making stories like Donik’s possible.
