Amisewaka – DLCC signs agreement with Ritz-Carlton Hotel

Amisewaka-DLCC has signed an agreement that paves the way for its students to do internships at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Nusa Dua – a luxury property with over 300 suites, rooms, and six restaurants.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) means students will be given a chance to do six months of training in the hotel kitchen. They will also be given a two-day orientation where they learn the basics of hotel operations and the dos and don’ts of dealing with guests. This is a fantastic opportunity for the students to gain real-world industry experience, to polish their skills, increase their language ability, and become more self-confident.

Most students at Amisewaka-DLCC have never traveled outside their regency, and very few as far away as the southern part of Bali, where tourism is at its highest. The Amisewaka-DLCC staff will act as mentors and help them not only with their hospitality skills but also ensure that they can adjust to their new life away from their families.

The students will live in boarding houses, which they must pay for themselves, and be provided with one meal a day at the hotel. After six months on site, they return to campus for a final wrap-up and graduation. It is hoped that if their internship is successful the hotel will be able to take them on as daily workers or permanent staff.

The Ritz Carlton is part of the Marriot group, which has over 30 four and five-star properties under its umbrella in Bali that can potentially provide our students with many opportunities. Since the maximum number of interns each hotel can take is five, we are looking at signing contracts with other hotels in the chain.

We would welcome any donations to help students cover their living expenses during their six-month internship. The total cost per student for those six months’ of training is USD 1,200. If you want to make a difference by helping with that, please donate here.
