From a very young age, Budiyani had already lost both of her parents. Today, she lives with her aging grandfather, whose strength continues to fade. To survive, they rely on the kindness of others—even for daily meals, her grandfather sometimes has to borrow from neighbors. Budiyani also has two older sisters who are already married. Although their lives are modest, they continue to support her education by running small stalls along the beach.

Slowly, she began to believe it too—that her dream of working on a cruise ship or in the international hospitality industry was not impossible.
