Amisewaka – DLCC welcomed students from ACS International Singapore who came to learn the art of traditional Balinese music. During the visit, 40 students were divided into two groups and received brief training on the basic techniques of megambel (playing) traditional gamelan music.
The training was led by our Director Rucina Ballinger, one of our staff members, Wayan Derama, and one of our talented students, Widia Santosa. In no time, the students were able to master basic techniques and produce harmonious music.
The megambel learning activity is one of Amisewaka – DLCC’s pilot projects that aims to develop educational tourism. We’re committed to continuously introducing the richness of Balinese culture to the wider community through various educational programs.
We plan to expand these programs to other areas as well. We have an organic garden on the rooftop and several other areas using permaculture systems for sustainability. This organic garden not only serves as an educational medium about sustainable agriculture but also as part of our efforts in environmental conservation. We plan to offer short courses on permaculture in the near future.
We invite everyone, from schools, organizations, and individuals, to visit Amisewaka –-DLCC and experience the educational tourism we offer firsthand.
